Personalized one-on-one tutoring for middle school through college students. Homework help, test prep, and real understanding — online or in person.
I was born and raised in Debre Zeit (Bishoftu), Ethiopia, and grew up between there and Addis Ababa. I moved to the United States as a sophomore in high school. Starting 10th grade in a brand-new country wasn't easy — but it taught me something I carry with me every day: the right support at the right time can change everything.
After finishing high school here in America, I went to college to study physics. Along the way, I fell in love with mathematics too, and ended up earning both a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. During college, I also gained hands-on tutoring experience working with students one-on-one — and that's when I realized this was my real calling.
After graduating, I interned as a manufacturing engineer, but I kept finding myself drawn back to teaching. It's what I love and what I'm best at. Today I teach high school math full-time, and I'm excited to bring that same energy to your student through private tutoring.
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
Growing up in the Habesha community, I saw firsthand how much families value education — and how much they want their kids to succeed. That passion is what inspired me to start MichaelTutors. While my roots are in the Ethiopian-Eritrean community, my door is open to every student who wants to learn. No matter your background, if your student needs help in math or physics, I'm here for them.
Every student starts with a diagnostic test so I know exactly where they stand and where to focus our time together.
I provide all worksheets, practice problems, and study guides — tailored to exactly what your student needs to improve.
Stuck on tonight's assignment? I work through problems step by step so your student builds real understanding.
Sessions are held via Zoom or Google Meet. If you're within driving distance, in-person tutoring is also available at an additional rate.
Inspired by the Habesha community, but open to every student. If your child wants to learn, they belong here.
From Pre-Algebra to Differential Equations — I cover the math and science courses that matter most, from middle school through college.
Strong foundations from pre-algebra through advanced calculus
Conceptual understanding meets real problem-solving
A clear, structured approach so your student gets exactly the help they need.
Tell me about your student — their name, grade, subject, what they're struggling with, and their teacher's contact (optional). This helps me understand exactly what kind of support they need before we even meet.
Before we start anything, your student takes a diagnostic test based on their class level and where they currently are in the curriculum. This tells me exactly where the gaps are — what they understand well and what needs serious work.
Based on the diagnostic results, I create a personalized plan with targeted worksheets focused on the areas where your student struggled most. We also factor in their upcoming tests, quizzes, and class schedule.
We meet at least 2–3 times per week for one-hour sessions via Zoom or Google Meet. I share my iPad screen so we can work through problems together in real time. Between sessions, your student works through targeted worksheets to reinforce what we covered.
This is an ongoing subscription — not a one-time thing. I continuously monitor your student's improvement, adjust the plan as they grow, and make sure we're always working on what matters most. The goal is lasting progress.
All sessions happen live over Zoom or Google Meet. I share my iPad screen so we can work through problems together in real time — it's like being in the same room. Sessions are typically one hour each.
Yes! If you're within driving distance, I offer in-person sessions as well. In-person tutoring is available at a 15–20% premium over the online rate. Reach out and we'll figure out if it works for your location.
I tutor students from middle school (6th grade) all the way through college. Whether your student needs help with Pre-Algebra or Differential Equations, I've got them covered.
The standard is 2–3 sessions per week, each lasting one hour. If the diagnostic test reveals significant gaps, I may recommend 3 sessions per week to help your student catch up faster.
Before starting, every student takes a diagnostic test based on their current class level. This helps me identify exactly where they're strong and where they need the most help — so we never waste time on material they already know.
Yes! I provide all worksheets, practice problems, and study materials. Between sessions, your student will work through targeted worksheets that reinforce what we covered.
Not at all! I was inspired to start this by my Habesha community, but I tutor students from all backgrounds. If your child needs help in math or physics, they're welcome here.
This is a subscription-based service with monthly plans. Consistent, regular sessions are the key to real improvement — not just cramming before a test. Contact me to discuss the plan that fits your family.
